Classroom to Conservation
Visit the Kanyana Classroom with your school
At Kanyana Wildlife, we offer unique, engaging incursions and excursions to students of all ages.
If you come to us at Kanyana, we offer several two-hour excursions linked to the Australian Curriculum for students K-Y7 and Y10-12. Meet some animals, see where they live, explore our Discovery Centre and see the Wildlife Hospital.
Professional Learning onsite is available too. If you would like your colleagues to learn how to teach biological sciences more effectively, or how you can incorporate animal incursions into your lessons, get in touch with us to create a personalised program. We also offer standard professional learning options throughout the year - so keep an eye on our event calendar.
Nature's Classroom
Kanyana Wildlife is set in a beautiful national park and surrounded by Jarrah forest in the Perth Hills. We offer unique school excursion opportunities which are competitively priced and include curriculum-linked educational presentations, hands-on activities and native wildlife encounters for K-Y12 students.
Programs up to Year 7 at Kanyana now include STEM (Programs and Topics described Below) and all incursions meet Western Australian curriculum content for Biological Science and English.
We offer a free of charge ratio of 1 adult: 10 students, and Companion Card holders are except from these ratios. Bring your lunch and enjoy a day with us at Kanyana.

Bringing the wild to you
Kanyana can visit your school
Bring the wonders of wildlife directly to your students with Kanyana Wildlife’s on-site school programs. Our interactive visits offer a unique opportunity for students to engage with nature without leaving their classroom. Our experienced educators will bring a selection of fascinating native animals, along with captivating presentations that highlight their habitats, behaviors, and conservation needs. These tailored programs are designed to enhance classroom learning, spark curiosity, and foster a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the environment.
Whether you’re looking to complement your curriculum or inspire a new generation of conservationists, Kanyana’s educational visits offer a memorable and impactful experience for students of all ages. Let us transform your school into a dynamic learning environment where the natural world comes alive.
What to expect
Our team of education volunteers can showcase several Australian animals and help make connections to what you’ve been teaching in the classroom. There is opportunity to touch some of the animals we bring, and taking photos (without flash) is encouraged.
Some options for your incursion focus include adaptation, classification, endangered species, Australian wildlife, snake safety, and first aid for wildlife.
We visit your school or event for between one and three hours. Our education volunteers can give presentations to one class at a time for 30 or 60 minutes, depending on your class needs and age group.
We charge $220/hr plus travel.
Special Events
Occasionally your school may have events like a fair or fete. Kanyana can also bring along animals to these events. We require several things to keep our animals and volunteers in a safe environment:
- maximum three hour display
- a marquee that is only open on one side ( to prevent our animals getting a fright)
- a quiet spot away from loudspeakers, music and other noises
- if the temperature is above 33 degrees, we need to have space in an air-conditioned area.
