Ever heard of a Woylie?
These adorable little marsupials are truly special and sadly, they are critically endangered, so they need our help!
Their scientific name is Bettongia penicillata, but we’ll just call them Woylies for now.
You’ll find Woylies in a range of habitats, from eucalypt forests to spinifex grasslands. They have a varied diet that includes grasses, shrubs, underground tubers, and fungi.
At Kanyana, we’re fortunate to have a Woylie Breeding Program aimed at helping to save these wonderful creatures. One of our special Woylies is Noba. Hand-raised by our Hospital Manager, Noba was super calm and loved people. Because of his gentle nature, Noba joined our education team in 2014 and has been helping to raise awareness about Woylies ever since.
Next time you visit Kanyana, make sure to meet Noba and learn more about these critically endangered and incredibly charming animals. Together, we can make a difference in their conservation!
