Work Experience Opportunities at Kanyana Wildlife!
What You’ll Do
During your placement, you'll engage in a range of activities that are crucial to the care and rehabilitation of our animals:
- Animal husbandry: Assist with feeding, cleaning, and general care of our resident and rehabilitating animals.
- Animal monitoring: Observe and report on animal health and behaviour.
- General cleaning and laundry: Maintain a clean and hygienic environment for our animals and staff.
- Animal handling: Learn proper techniques for safely handling various species.
- Enrichment activities: Help create and implement enrichment activities to stimulate the animals' natural behaviours.
- Dietary needs: Gain knowledge about the specific dietary requirements of different species.
Important Details
- Age requirement: Students must be 16 years or older.
- Vaccination: A current Tetanus vaccination is recommended.
- Educational requirement: We only accept students who are studying at an educational facility; online course students are not eligible.
- Assessment: We will sign off on hours worked and provide an overall assessment, but we cannot verify specific skills due to staffing limitations.
Application Process
Placements are limited and in high demand, with specific closing dates for applications:
- Semester One Applications: Close on December 1st.
- Semester Two Applications: Close on May 1st.
