Behind the scenes
Volunteering with Kanyana Wildlife
Kanyana Wildlife offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities to match your skills and interests, from fundraising to animal care.
You can choose a role that best suits your skills and needs. From fundraising to gardening and animal support, there is a volunteer role for everyone!
Volunteer Opportunities include:
- Administration
- Animal Carer
- Animal Transport
- Events and fundraising
- Gardening and property maintenance
- Marketing and design
- Tour Guide
Within these basic areas, Kanyana Wildlife volunteers also fulfil the roles of shift supervisors, tube feeders, breeding program coordinators, training coordinators and many more.
Hospital Volunteers
Volunteering in the hospital is one of the most popular areas to share your time. There are three shifts per day; divided into morning, midday and afternoon shifts. Once you have been allocated a shift, you stay with the same timeslot each week. You build some great friendships and learn new skills!
Education Team
Volunteering in Education as an Animal Presenter or Tour Guide is another one of our popular opportunities. This involves going out in our Education van to schools and community events, running Discovery Tours or Nocturnal Tours onsite at Kanyana and running school and school holiday programs at Kanyana.
The education program is seeking passionate volunteers to lead and run these tours. As a volunteer, you have the choice of finding a shift that suits your schedule best, with the option of volunteering as much or as little time you like. New volunteers attend short training and learn on the job from other dedicated volunteers. Download our information sheet about volunteering with the Education Team for more details.
