From Rescue to Release
Our Commitment to Wildlife Rehabilitation
At Kanyana Wildlife, our primary mission is to rescue, treat and rehabilitate injured, sick and orphaned native wildlife, giving them the best chance to return to their natural environments.
Our dedicated Perth team of trained volunteers and veterinary professionals provides comprehensive medical care, nutrition, and rehabilitation support to a wide range of species.
Wildlife Rehabilitation Services
Each year, we care for thousands of animals, addressing various ailments and injuries caused by environmental hazards, human activities and natural predators.
With our state-of-the-art facilities and expert knowledge, we ensure that every animal receives the highest standard of care, from initial rescue through to recovery and release.
Core to our rehabilitation services is our commitment to scientific research and breeding programs. Our research efforts, often conducted in partnership with leading universities, have led to significant advancements in the treatment and understanding of various wildlife diseases, such as the flu or infections threatening their lives. This research directly enhances our rehabilitation practices – enabling us to implement the most effective treatment protocols and improve survival rates.
Our breeding programs for species such as woylies and bilbies not only aim to boost population numbers. but also provide valuable insights into health management and the behavioural needs of these animals. These insights are crucial for the rehabilitation process, ensuring we can offer tailored care meeting specific needs of each species.
Kanyana’s commitment to wildlife rehabilitation is complemented by our educational outreach, which aims to foster community awareness and support for conservation efforts. By visiting us, participating in our programs, or supporting our initiatives, you help us continue our vital work in preserving Australia’s unique wildlife. Together, we can make a significant impact on the conservation and recovery of our native species.
Help Us Make a Difference
Australia’s native animals are threatened from nearly every direction—habitat loss, vehicle strikes, disease, and feral cats. We work to lessen this threat, and every year, Kanyana admits more than 2600 orphaned, injured, and displaced animals to our hospital. As we do not receive government funding, we rely on generous donations to continue our conservation efforts and save wildlife. It costs us at least $50 per animal admitted to our hospital.
Every donation makes a difference. Your support, whether in the form of goods or monetary donations, enables us to feed, treat, medicate, and rehabilitate wildlife. Every dollar or gift given goes directly to supporting wildlife care, and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
